BayView Entertainment has secured North American distribution rights to a catalog of vertical video titles from FlareFlow, the microdrama platform operated by COL Group International, marking the first time the mobile-first content will be available outside of its native app.
The Los Angeles and Vancouver-based distribution company plans to roll out the title across VOD and TVOD platforms during the second quarter of 2026 using its DotstudioPRO distribution technology. BayView President Peter Castro and FlareFlow CEO James Wang announced the partnership.
Possible titles include “Who’s the Real Bride?,” “My Christmas Lover,” “My Werewolf Husband,” “Mistress With a Secret,” “The Blind Heiress Strikes Back” and “Naked Truth at Crazy Beach.”
Debuting on iOS and Android in April 2025, FlareFlow has emerged as a major player in the expanding microdrama space. The platform specializes in short-form, serialized stories created specifically for vertical viewing and reportedly has more than 25 million subscribers worldwide. Our parent company, COL Group International, has been the category leader in microdrama storytelling for several years.
This acquisition represents BayView’s first significant move into a vertical format of scripted programming. The distributor has spent 20 years building a catalog of more than 3,500 titles across multiple genres, including award-winning films that premiered at Sundance, SXSW, Tribeca, and the Toronto Film Festival.
FlareFlow’s content delivers narrative stories in episodes that are less than 90 seconds long, with cliffhanger endings designed to keep viewers moving through the episodes. The production is professionally shot specifically for vertical screens, rather than reusing traditional formats.
“With traditional TV, you had to wait a week. With streaming, you have to click to see the credits. With FlareFlow, the hook is instant and the reward is instant. Before you know it, you’ll be watching an entire series on your commute. Essentially, it’s binge-watching for people who don’t have time to binge-watch,” Wang said. “We are introducing North American audiences to a completely different kind of fast-talking storytelling, and thanks to our new strategic partnership with BayView Entertainment, we look forward to reaching a global audience as they discover this new genre beyond the mobile app ecosystem.”
Castro said the deal fits into broader industry trends around short-form, scripted content. “Vertical, short, scripted content continues to gain traction around the world,” he said. “FlareFlow has built a large audience around the world hungry for short-form entertainment. This agreement strengthens our already successful offering and allows us to test that demand across traditional digital retail and VOD platforms.”
BayView merged with DotstudioPRO in summer 2025, combining the latter’s content management system, API tools, and metadata automation capabilities with BayView’s distribution operations. The combined organization currently maintains a library of more than 7,500 titles.
COL Group International operates in more than 170 territories and continues to expand its microdrama platform partnerships with writers, studios and distributors.
