The date for Jason Sudeikis’ long-awaited return to AFC Richmond has been set.
Apple TV has announced that the fourth season of “Ted Lasso” will debut worldwide this summer, and the streamer also shared new stills and plot details.
The show, which is currently in production, will feature returning executive producer Sudeikis, as well as Emmy Award winners Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Emmy Award winners Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt and Jeremy Swift. The new signings include Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Margie, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbey Hearn and Grant Feely.
In Season 4, Ted returns to Richmond to take on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a Division II women’s soccer team. According to the synopsis, “Over the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they see and seize opportunities they never expected.”
“Ted Lasso” Season 4 adds Emmy Award winner Jack Burditt (“Nobody Wants This,” “Modern Family,” “30 Rock”) as executive producer under a new overall deal with Apple TV. Sudeikis will star and executive produce alongside Brendan Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee and Bill Rubel. Goldstein will serve as writer and executive producer alongside Leanne Bowen. Sarah Walker and Phoebe Walsh will serve as writers and producers for Season 4, with Sasha Garon serving as co-producer. Julia Lyndon will write the script for season 4, and Dylan Maron will serve as story editor.
Bill Lawrence is executive producing through Doozer Productions in association with Universal Television, a division of Warner Bros. Television and NBCUniversal Content. Doozer’s Jeff Ingold and Lisa Katzer will also serve as executive producers. The series was developed by Sudeikis, Lawrence, Kelly and Hunt and is based on NBC Sports’ existing format and characters.
After its global debut on Apple TV, “Ted Lasso” quickly broke records, becoming the comedy series with the most Emmy nominations in its first season. The series received back-to-back Emmy Awards for Outstanding Comedy Series during its first two seasons on the air.
