Chris Pratt appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast during the press tour for Mercy and revealed that he has an “insanely brilliant” idea for how to bring Star-Lord back into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What that idea is remains a secret. Pratt last played Peter Quill/Star-Lord in 2023’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, with text in the credits scene promising Star-Lord’s return.
Pratt said of Marvel, “Whatever they want me to do, and that’s what I’m willing to do.” “And I personally have a really strong vision of what I want him to do. And I think that’s really great.”
When asked if he had already pitched the idea to Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige, Pratt replied, “Yeah, and I think I’m going to help them shape the next 10 years of storytelling in any way I can, right? And I have pretty strong ideas about how I think I can contribute to that.”
It remains to be seen whether Pratt’s Star-Lord will appear in Avengers: Doomsday or Avengers: Secret Wars, but he was not included in the official casting announcement for the former Marvel star. James Gunn directed all three Guardians movies before moving on to direct for DC Studios, including Superman and its sequel Man of Tomorrow.
“In a dream world, it would somehow be James,” Pratt said of directing a new movie with Star-Lord. “But I don’t think that’s likely to happen. So we have to think about who would be the right manager. There are great managers out there.”
Pratt remains close to Gunn. He once sent a photo of himself Photoshopped into a Batman mask over his face as an impromptu pitch to play the Dark Knight in Gunn’s “The Brave and the Bold,” which introduced Batman to the DC Universe.
“I Photoshopped it and[James]just said, ‘Aha,'” Pratt said. “It’s safe to say I’m not going to be Batman.”
