Leonardo DiCaprio isn’t trying to “blame” anyone he’s talking to in a playful Golden Globes clip that has since gone viral online.
“It was meant for a friend, but at the end of the day, you never know if this person I’m talking to wants me to say their name,” the “Titanic” star told Deadline in comments published Thursday.
“So, as the main character says in A Bronx Tale, I’m not a mouse.”
The actor, who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actor for his role in “One Battle After Another,” made headlines on January 11 when he spoke to someone during a commercial break at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards.
“I was watching you when the K-Pop thing happened,” the 51-year-old actor blurted out to another person across the room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
“I was like, ‘Who is that?'” “Who is that… who is that guy?” The “Shutter Island” star clapped and laughed during the encounter, but it only showed one side of DiCaprio.
His “One Battle After Another” co-star Teyana Taylor initially took credit for the exchange, but later retracted the claim.
“He was talking to me! Yes!” the “All’s Fair” actress, 35, told Access Hollywood.
“The crazy thing is, my mind went blank about that day, so I’m like, maybe we were talking about KPop Demon Hunter. My kids love KPop Demon Hunter, so I was so happy when they won, so we were just jamming there and I think he caught me jamming.”
Taylor later admitted that DiCaprio was silently talking to someone at the Hollywood Party of the Year.
“I was like, ‘You can’t talk to me, are you talking to me?’ ‘Cause I’ve already told people what you’re talking to me,” she later said during an appearance on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.”
“Apparently that night he had two conversations about ‘KPop Demon Hunter’ and ‘KPop Demon Hunter’ was on his lips all night.”
“And I was like, ‘Who else is fighting like that?’ Because that’s literally what we’re talking about,” she said, referring to DiCaprio’s exaggerated body language during the interaction.
Taylor confessed to “a little bit of friendly jealousy” after realizing that the famous actor wasn’t talking to her in the video.
“I was like, ‘Who else is chewing invisible gum?'” she said. “He didn’t even remember who he was talking to. He was like, ‘I don’t even know.'”
