Variety reports that Timothy Busfield, accused of molesting a 7-year-old boy on the set of The Cleaning Lady, will be edited out of Amazon MGM’s new film You Deserve Each Other.
This is the second project to be affected by Busfield’s sexual abuse allegations. On January 12, NBC removed an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” in which Busfield guest starred from its programming schedule. This episode was scheduled to debut on January 22nd.
On January 9, an arrest warrant was issued for Busfield on charges of two counts of sexual abuse of a minor. The investigation stems from twin boys who appeared in the 2022 TV series “Cleaning Women.” Mr. Busfield was the director at the time.
On January 13, Busfield turned himself in to the Metro Detention Center in Albuquerque. He is expected to remain there until Tuesday’s court hearing. He faces three charges. Two counts of sexual contact with a child each carry a maximum sentence of six years, and one count of child abuse carries a maximum sentence of three years.
Busfield has a top rating on IMDb for “You Deserve Each Other,” which may indicate a significant contribution to the film industry. Other cast members include Penn Badgley, Meghan Fahey, Justin Long, Kyle MacLachlan, Natalie Morales, Ana Gasteyer, Hope Davis, Delaney Rowe, and Lisa Gilroy.
The film was directed by Mark Silverstein and Abby Cohn and is based on the novel of the same name by Sarah Hogle. According to the official logline, the film follows “Naomi (Fey) and Nick (Badgley) who are trying to get married and live happily ever after. The only problem is that they’ve fallen completely in love. As their wedding rapidly approaches and the pressure mounts, they decide to secretly pressure their partner to call off the wedding, only to fall in love again along the way.”
