Black Mandala has acquired international sales rights to director Oliver Hollingdale’s British fantasy feature film The Kingdom of Elderwin.
The film centers around Jonas, a magic user who assembles a group of allies, including the villain Dagon, the elf Nimue, and the assassin Solomon, to investigate a mysterious corruption in a sleepy village in the mysterious kingdom of Eldarvin. As they travel through haunted forests and forgotten ruins, the group discovers that the darkness may be connected to their past.
The cast includes Craig Standen, Tess Dimos, Lewis Sycamore and Martin Portlock, who recently gained attention for his roles as The Witch on Britain’s Got Talent and Peter Pan in Neverland Nightmare, as part of The Twisted Childhood Universe. The film is narrated by Jason Fleming, known for his work on Lock, Stock, Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch, X-Men: First Class, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Kick-Ass.
“At the heart of our films is a grounded approach to fantasy, built on atmosphere, character and emotional truth, rather than relying on grand spectacle,” Hollingdale said. “I have always been drawn to stories where magic is woven into the ancient, intimate, fabric of nature.”
The director cited “The Lord of the Rings,” “The Green Knight,” and “The Fountain” as influences, noting that the film combines mythic storytelling with emotional resonance.
“The Eldervin landscape is as unique as any other hero,” Hollingdale added. “We incorporated natural light, handcrafted textures, and moments of quiet surrealism to give the world a poetic, living texture.”
The production features costumes by Norse Dragon Armory, original music by composer Siddhartha Bahnhoorn, and cinematography by Morgan Andrews. Palm Haven Studios and Morgan Films supported production.
Oakland-based Black Mandala was founded in 2017 by Michael Kraetzer and Nicolas Onetti and specializes in independent horror and genre distribution, with over 150 titles under its belt.
