HBO Max launches today in eight new European countries, including Germany, Italy, and Austria, and the streamer announced a new bundle deal with Prime Video in those regions that extends existing partnerships in France, Spain, Sweden, Belgium, and the Netherlands.

Warner Bros. Discovery’s global streaming service, which operates in more than 100 countries, is nearing availability across Europe, adding Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, Israel and Greece, and will launch in the UK and Ireland at the end of March.

Following last week’s announcement of a distribution deal with Germany’s RTL, HBO Max has revealed that its service will be available on Waipu.tv in addition to Prime Video and RTL+ in Germany. They also signed deals with Switzerland’s Sunrise and Swisscom. In Italy, customers of Telecom Italia’s TIM platform can also access HBO Max.

As previously announced, for the first time, viewers in these regions will be able to enjoy content from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures, Warner Bros. Television, DC Universe and Max Originals all in one place. Some of the streamer’s most popular shows include “The Pit,” “It: Welcome to Derry,” “House of the Dragon,” “The Last of Us,” “The White Lotus,” and “Euphoria,” while its filmography includes “Superman,” “The Batman,” “Dune,” and the “Harry Potter” series. The news comes in time for the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which will be broadcast live on HBO Max from February 6th to 22nd.

“We’re excited to start the new year by expanding into some of the world’s largest economies as we continue to bring HBO Max to new audiences,” said JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming and Gaming, Warner Bros. Discovery. “Next up, HBO Max will launch in the UK and Ireland in late March, completing the rollout of HBO Max across Europe.”

HBO Max first launched in the U.S. in 2020 and has since expanded to Latin America, Europe, and Asia. In Q3 2025, Warner Bros. Discovery reported 128 million streaming subscribers worldwide.

The shocking news of Netflix’s acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery has cast some doubt on the future of HBO Max, but the streamer is moving forward with its European expansion.
