Brooklyn Beckham reportedly has a good reason for refusing to contact his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, without a lawyer.
Insiders told the Mirror that the mother and father were doing this to protect their mental health because they were suffering negative consequences from sharing their photos on social media and tagging them in posts.
Brooklyn has told close friends that she would have appreciated that any attempt at reconciliation would take place “in private” rather than in public.
Another source told the outlet that Brooklyn, 26, first sent legal letters to David, 50, and Victoria, 51, last summer after her “requests” to “stop” her posts were ignored.
“It was leading to his mental health issues… It was to protect himself,” the source claimed.
Despite receiving the letter, the situation is said to have escalated when Victoria liked one of her son’s photos.
Additionally, the “Wannabe” singer and David shared a throwback photo of themselves in Brooklyn during the Christmas holidays.
Brooklyn has since reportedly blocked his parents on social media, with a source adding that one of Brooklyn’s main problems is that his parents still treat him like a child.
Representatives for Brooklyn, Victoria and David could not be reached for comment by Page Six.
The latest update on Beckham’s feud comes after the Daily Mail reported that Brooklyn and his parents had exchanged letters through his lawyers last summer.
The newspaper said Brooklyn told the former soccer pro and Spice Girl singer not to post or talk about her on social media and that he should only contact her through her lawyer.
The request reportedly stemmed from a conversation about his wife, Nicola Peltz, controlling him and holding him “hostage.”
“David was told to speak to them through (law firm) Schillings,” the insider claimed. “It was the only way for them to communicate.”
The Beckhams have also recently been posting about their feud on social media, with Victoria and David’s son Cruise claiming he was blocked by Brooklyn last month.
At the time, the 20-year-old responded to reports that his famous parents had deleted Brooklyn from Instagram, writing, “Not true. My mom and dad never unfollowed their son. Let’s get our facts straight. They woke up blocked…and so did I.”
Brooklyn and Peltz reignited their feud with the Beckham family after they refused to attend David’s 50th birthday party in May.
The former athlete and Victoria also did not attend the couple’s vow renewal ceremony in August.
Since then, Brooklyn reportedly has “no interest” in making amends with his family and is “seriously focused on living a peaceful, drama-free life” with his wife.
