Teyana Taylor sobbed as she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the movie “One Battle After Another.”
Taylor said on stage during her acceptance speech, “For our brown sisters and little brown girls watching tonight, our softness is not a flaw.” “Our depths are not too great. Our light doesn’t need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk in. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”
Taylor won the award for her performance as Paphidia Beverly Hills in Paul Thomas Anderson’s dark comedy action thriller.
Other nominees in the category include Emily Blunt for Smashing Machines, Elle Fanning for Sentimental Value, Ariana Grande for Wicked: For Good, Inga Ybsdotter Lillias for Sentimental Value, and Amy Madigan for Weapons.
Taylor began her acceptance speech by mentioning how her children watched the ceremony. “My babes, they’re upstairs watching. You better get off your phone right now and watch me!”
She later thanked Director Anderson and playfully named Paul Thomas Anderson for “let me cook.” “Thank you for your vision, your trust, and your brilliance. I can’t thank you enough. I love you, we love you, and thank you so much for holding space for me and the entire cast.”
The 83rd Golden Globe Awards ceremony was hosted by comedian Nikki Glazer for the second consecutive year and was held at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills on Sunday night. “One Battle After Another” led this year’s film nominations with nine nominations. It was closely followed by “Sentimental Value” and “Sinners,” which received eight and seven nominations respectively.
In the television category, The White Lotus led the way with six nominations, followed by Adolescence with five nominations. “Only Murders in the Building” and “Disconnect” each earned four nods.
