Amy Madigan has never succumbed to outside pressure, no matter how trivial.
“I don’t hear any of that,” the 75-year-old “Weapons” actress exclusively told Page Six at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards ceremony earlier this week.
“People are fully entitled to their opinions, but that’s not the case with me. I have no problem with someone doing what they want, but that’s not the case with me.”
The Field of Dreams star, who is married to Ed Harris, admitted that while her husband has worked consistently into his older years, she hasn’t had the same opportunities. But she is not bitter about the longstanding disparities.
“I don’t go to those places at all,” the ‘Uncle Buck’ star explained. “It’s just part of your life.” You have to realize that you’re not going to be working all the time. You also need to realize that as you get older, it becomes more difficult to cope. But no, I wouldn’t do that to myself. ”
Madigan added that Harris, also 75, had been her cheerleader for many years.
“My husband always said to me, ‘Wait a minute. You’re in the perfect place right now, and something really great is going to happen to you.’
Madigan admitted she didn’t really believe him.
“I thought, ‘Oh, sure.’ We’re good supporters of each other and always have been.”
“What was truly amazing” was a role in the mystery horror film “Weapons,” in which 17 children from the same classroom go on a mysterious escape on the same night. Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, and Alden Ehrenreich also star.
Madigan was on hand to accept the award for Best Supporting Actress for the film, and was introduced by her Field of Dreams and Uncle Buck co-star Gaby Hoffman.
Hoffman, 44, captivated the audience by revealing that she last met Madigan when she was 6 or 7 years old.
The “Girls” alum revealed that she loved working with Madigan on “Field of Dreams” and has fond memories of Madigan’s warm, maternal presence, but she also said she vividly remembers being “crazy in love” with Ray Liotta, who she was sure would propose to her.
