What you need to know
Sophie Turner is feeling refreshed ahead of her upcoming milestone birthday.
The 29-year-old actress appeared on CBS Morning on Wednesday, January 7, and talked about what she has in store for 2026. In addition to some exciting projects, including starring in Prime Video’s new series Steel, co-host Gayle King pointed out that Turner will also turn 30 in February.
“I’m curious about how you feel,” said King, 71. “Your life has just begun. You’re a mother of two now and you’ve gone through a high-profile divorce, so come out the other side.”
“Yeah,” Turner admitted. Turner was married to Joe Jonas for four years before filing for divorce in September 2023.
The split unfolded quickly after Turner accused the singer, 36, of unlawfully detaining their daughters – Willa, five, and Delphine, three – withholding their passports and not allowing them to return to her in the UK. She has since dropped the lawsuit, and the former couple reached a settlement agreement in September 2024, although the terms are confidential.

“You seem to have really grown up,” Dr. King told the Game of Thrones alum. “How do you feel about your life as you turn 30?”
The journalist went on to say that at 30, she thought it was “so cool,” but recognized that others could be “so depressed” by it.
“Not me, not me,” Turner replied. “I’m really looking forward to it. As I head into my 30s, I want to start this new chapter of my life with real confidence in myself, so I’m doing a lot of self-work. I want to know myself as much as possible, so I’ve been doing a lot of therapy over the last few months, and now I feel really ready for my 30s.”

King also praised Turner’s message, which he shared on Instagram Stories last month, for emphasizing the power of reflection and change.
“Life is just a series of endings and beginnings. It’s a loop. Every up and down comes at some point in this cycle,” King read. “Perhaps accepting the beginning of something new needs to be balanced with accepting the reality that something comes to an end. The sooner we realize this and welcome it, the better we can process our experiences and see that life is working for us, not against us.”
Ms. Turner revealed that the note was written by her “best friend” Tabitha Doherty, and continued, “Adversity (emotional, physical, psychological) provides strength of character for the next challenge. So even when you feel the weight of an end, remember that the joy of a new beginning is just around the corner.”
When asked what was on her bucket list for the next 10 years, Turner said she wanted to “work a lot” but also find time to enjoy “a little bit of peace and quiet.”
“I’m really looking forward to spending time with my kids,” she added. “Going to the playground, taking them to museums. I’ve entered a really calm period in my life.”
