It wasn’t easy for Beyoncé to perform during the early months of her pregnancy with daughter Blue Ivy Carter.
The 35-time Grammy Award-winning superstar’s mother, Tina Knowles, posted a throwback clip from ITV’s 2011 “An Evening with Beyoncé” special on Instagram on Tuesday, January 6, recalling the 44-year-old Queen Bey feeling “nauseous” backstage while she was two months pregnant with Blue Ivy.
“This just came across my feed! It reminded me of me,” the 72-year-old Matriarch author wrote in the post’s caption. “This is one of the hardest shows we’ve ever done. Beyoncé was about two months pregnant with Blue and was as nauseous as possible.”
Tina explained, “In between songs, she would run back and throw up and come out and do the next song. That’s when I knew without a doubt what a strong and resilient performer she was. She couldn’t tell anyone about her pregnancy.”
The businesswoman points out that only Tina and her stylists Ty Hunter and Tim White knew that Beyoncé was pregnant at the time.
“She was sick, but she made it through the show and sacrificed her performance,” Tina continued. “All the band and crew knew was that she was sick.”

ITV’s A Night with Beyoncé special aired in the UK on December 4, 2011, but the performance was likely filmed months earlier, as the Crazy in Love singer announced her pregnancy at the 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in August.
Blue Ivy was born on January 7, 2012 to Beyoncé and her father Jay-Z, and the young star, who danced with her mother on the Renaissance World Tour and Cowboy Carter Tour, is now 14 years old.
In November, Tina opened up about how Blue Ivy and Beyoncé helped her record vocals for an Ulta commercial to promote her Cécred hair care line.
“Fun fact! My sweet daughter @beyonce took me into the studio to produce the vocals for ‘Five Golden Things’ because I actually had a sinus infection when I filmed my part in the commercial,” she wrote.
“So she and Blue did some harmonies to make my voice sound a little better,” Tina continued. “Thank you Jesus!!! Because my blue (my manager) said grandma, you’re going to be a meme!!!”
She then joked, “If I had sounded bad, everyone would have talked about me a lot.”
