Mickey Rourke starts GoFundMe to avoid eviction from Los Angeles home

Mickey Rourke launched a GoFundMe on Sunday in hopes of avoiding eviction.

In December, the Oscar-nominated actor was served with a notice to pay approximately $60,000 in unpaid rent or be evicted from his Los Angeles home (via People). A GoFundMe titled “Help Mickey Rourke Stay Home” has so far raised $85,864 of its $100,000 goal.

“Mickey Rourke entered American cinema like a force of nature: raw, fearless, and totally original,” the donation page’s description reads. “In the late 1970s and 1980s, he was more than just a movie star. He was a symbol of that rare thing: danger and vulnerability, toughness and heart. From ‘Diner’ to ‘Rumblefish’ to ‘9 1/2 Weeks,’ Mickey left a lasting mark on American film culture, giving audiences performances that felt lived, not acted.”

The blurb goes on to say that after Rourke left boxing acting, he suffered “lasting physical and emotional scars” and was abandoned by “the industry that once admired him.”

“Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability,” the explanation adds. “What is left is a human being who deserves dignity, housing and a chance to recover.”

Rourke’s big break came in the 1983 drama Rumble Fish, directed by Francis Ford Coppola. His other notable credits include “The Pop of Greenwich Village,” “9 1/2 Weeks,” “Angel Heart,” “Barfly,” as well as recent films such as “Man on Fire,” “Sin City,” and “The Wrestler.”

Rourke recently starred in the new independent thriller Mascots, written and directed by Kelly Mondragon. However, as Udo Kier, who passed away in November 2025, was scheduled to co-star, it is unclear how the production will proceed.
