Josh Brolin recalls Donald Trump before he was elected president of the United States.
In a recent interview with The Independent, Brolin said he understands Trump in a different light because they were “friends” before he became president. This understanding leaves Mr. Brolin confident that Mr. Trump will not seek a third term, although that possibility is prevalent in some political circles and has been raised by Mr. Trump himself from time to time.
“I’m not scared of President Trump, because he says he’s going to stay forever, but that’s not going to happen,” Brolin said. “If that happens, I’m going to deal with it in the moment. But I know another guy because we were friends before Trump became president.”
The “No Country for Old Men” star met Trump while working on Oliver Stone’s 2010 financial drama “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.” Trump was scheduled to appear in the film, but it was ultimately cut.
Brolin later said he found Trump’s past entrepreneurial interests “interesting,” referring to Trump’s efforts to build large developments “in the middle of cesspool cities in the late ’70s.” However, looking at him now that he has become president, we can see that his authority is “unabated power.”
Brolin still has some praise for Trump, adding, “There’s no greater marketing genius than him. He takes the weaknesses of the public and fills them. I think that’s why so many people see a mascot in him. I think it’s less about Trump and more about the public and their need for validation.”
