Paris Hilton has an engagement ring befitting a hotel heiress.

Hilton and Carter-Liam began their romance in 2019 after reuniting at Thanksgiving dinner, eventually dating for two years and getting engaged over the holidays in February 2021. Réum answered this question with a giant emerald-cut diamond designed by jeweler Jean Doucet.

The Simple Life star opened up about the engagement in a September 2021 blog post, calling her new sparkle “perfect” and “just gorgeous.”

“I love everything about Carter and he has changed my life in so many beautiful ways. His love has shaped me into the woman I know I am meant to be,” she wrote. “Our emotions were intense and incredibly strong and I have never felt so alive. When Carter proposed to me, it was the best moment of my life.”

Nine months later, Hilton and Reum tied the knot in a lavish three-day wedding in California. The couple held a ceremony at Hilton’s late grandfather’s former Bel Air home, where they exchanged wedding rings. Hilton chose a diamond eternity ring and Reum wore a silver band.

Reum collaborated with jeweler Jean Doucet to design Hilton’s engagement ring

Reum worked closely with Doucet, the great-grandson of famed French jeweler Louis Cartier, to create Hilton’s custom emerald-cut sparkler.

Speaking with The Knot in November 2021, Doucet spoke candidly about Reum’s role in the design process.

“One of the key elements of this ring is that Carter invested so much (in the process) that he was able to add as much emotion as possible to the idealization and creation of the ring,” he said. “His focus was on how many details and personal touches, big and small, he could add to the ring to express how much he loves Paris.”

A ring inspired by the Grand Palais in Paris

According to The Knot, the center stone in Hilton’s engagement ring is a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond surrounded by baguette-cut and trapezoidal accent diamonds. The giant sparkler, estimated to be worth about $2 million, was designed to resemble the glass ceiling of the Grand Palais in Paris.

“The ring’s design combines influences from the Classical and Art Nouveau eras. The geometric shape of this ring is fitting as it resembles the structure of the Grand Palais in Paris,” Doucet told The Knot. “Its vaulted glass ceiling was designed to let in maximum light when large groups of people gathered together, since electricity had not yet been invented.”

“This design was born out of my desire to maximize the beauty of the ring from all angles, with precious metals taking a supporting role. That’s why I used a special tension setting to seamlessly position the diamonds without the use of metals,” he added.

Ring design includes hidden details

Hilton’s engagement ring, named “The Paris,” has a special hidden detail inside the band.

During a March 2021 on-air appearance with Ryan Seacrest, the heiress revealed that her ring contains a P-shaped sapphire that only she can see.

Reum proposes to Hilton on a private island

The two were vacationing on a private island to celebrate Hilton’s 40th birthday. Lum asked the heiress to meet her on the beach for a photo, and as soon as she arrived, she got down on one knee. After the proposal, the couple’s family, including Nicky Hilton Rothschild and Courtney Reum, joined them for an intimate engagement celebration on the beach.

“I was so excited and so happy that I started shaking and crying,” Hilton said on the This Is Paris podcast. “He was so happy that he thought of inviting our family there to celebrate this moment.”

Hilton wears a diamond wedding ring

Hilton complemented her intricate engagement ring with a simple wedding band. They got married on November 11, 2021.

She shared a photo from her big day a few weeks later, giving fans a glimpse of her diamond eternity band.

“Married on our first moon wedding. 👰🏼‍♀️🤵🏻❤️ Happy 24th moon wedding, husband! ❤️,” she wrote in the caption. “The last two years have been the happiest and most incredible years of my life, and I’m so happy to spend the rest of my life with you.”
