Academy Award winner Angela Bassett shows off her best runway walk at Vogue World: Hollywood.
On Sunday, October 26, Bassett made a surprise appearance at the 4th annual fashion event wearing an original outfit worn by her character Queen Ramonda from the Black Panther series.
The 67-year-old actress wore the same gown her Black Panther: Wakanda Forever character wears to the United Nations conference in Geneva, but this time she delighted the crowd as she danced down the runway at Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles in an elaborate dress.

The dress was designed by industry icon Ruth E. Carter in various shades of vibrant purple (the color associated with royalty) and features Wakandan hieroglyphs woven in gold thread down the center and sides. The halter neck silhouette is completed with a sculptural gold collar.
Bassett wore Ramonda’s 3D-printed crown over her isicholo, a traditional headgear worn by married Zulu women. According to Vogue, Carter worked with artist Julia Kellner to develop the 3D elements of the look.
To accessorize, the actress wore striking gold jewelry by Ramonda. Designed by Dorian Fletcher, it also includes earrings and a decorated collar.

Bassett, who won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 2023 for her work in the film, appeared in the show’s Afrofuturism section, which focused on how Carter and others interpreted traditional African clothing for the film.
Carter’s reimagining won her an Oscar for Black Panther and made her the first black costume designer to win an Academy Award. She also went on to win Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Vogue World: Hollywood marks the fourth edition of the fashion event, which was first held in 2022 after the COVID-19 pandemic. The show will be held in London in 2023 and Paris in 2024, with a fashion opening ceremony attended by more than 500 models at Place Vendôme.

This year, Vogue World served as a love letter to Hollywood. Fear of God designer Jerry Lorenzo has created an eight-piece Vogue World: Hollywood capsule celebrating LA’s iconic landmarks, which will also be available for purchase.
The night celebrates the rich dynamic between film and fashion, with 100% of ticket proceeds going to the Entertainment Community Foundation, with a focus on supporting professionals in the costume community affected by the Los Angeles wildfires.
It has performances from Doja Cat and Gracie Abrams and is A-list to say the least. Additionally, Cynthia Erivo, Hailey Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Karol G, Ayo Edebiri, Dakota Johnson, and Gwyneth Paltrow all attended the fashion event.
