What you need to know
Selena Gomez has a newlywed glow.
A few weeks after getting married, on Saturday, October 18, the 33-year-old actress and singer attended the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles with her husband Benny Blanco.
Gomez exuded old Hollywood elegance in a glamorous black dress with sparkly embellishments for the event, which was meant to raise money for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. She paired the dress with a black suit jacket, a bold red lip and her hair up in an updo.
Meanwhile, Blanco, 27, looked dapper in a black jacket and pants, paired with a blue dress shirt with the top button undone.

The Academy Museum Gala honors Penelope Cruz, Walter Salles, Bruce Springsteen and SNL’s Bowen Yang. Last year’s event brought in $11 million, according to Deadline.
The annual gathering was held the day after the Daytime Emmy Awards, where Gomez was nominated for Outstanding Culinary Series for her work on Selena + Restaurant. (Delicious Miss Brown won the award instead.)
Gomez has been nominated for three Daytime Emmy Awards, including previously for Selena + Chef (2020) and its holiday spinoff. Speaking to PEOPLE in 2022, the former Disney star talked about how his show has fared so far.
“Season 1, I was a complete failure. Not that I don’t still have my thing, but I’ve come a long way,” she admitted. “I love having the opportunity to cook for friends and family.”
Her latest series, “Selena + Restaurant,” has been named Outstanding Cooking Instruction Series.
The show will premiere on Max in May 2024 and will follow Gomez as she explores the competitive Los Angeles food scene with her best friend Raquel Stevens while learning the ins and outs of the restaurant industry.
“For the past four years, I’ve been cooking mostly virtually from the kitchen with some of the best chefs, and I was so excited to step into their world,” Gomez said in a press release about the show. “I need to see if meeting in person helped my skills at all.”
Fans could see the ‘Murder in the Bill’ actress in a stunning wardrobe of bridal looks as photos from her California wedding were shared on Instagram. The special day included multiple outfit changes, but it was Gomez’s main gown that stole the show.
Styled by longtime stylist Erin Walsh, Gomez walked down the aisle in a custom Ralph Lauren floral halter-neck dress featuring the bride and groom’s heart initials, engraved wedding date, and 300 hand-shaped and applied lace flower and crystal embellishments on a hand-painted corset. She also wore a vintage-inspired reception dress and a blazer look for the reception.
The couple flashed their wedding rings after the ceremony, which was attended by Ed Sheeran, Steve Martin, Martin Short, Paul Rudd and Paris Hilton.

In addition to her cooking shows and on-screen projects, Gomez is also the founder of Rare Beauty and Rare Impact Fund. While appearing on a panel at the Fortune Most Powerful Women Summit on Oct. 15, she shared some advice that helps her stay grounded. It just so happens that she inherited it from her best friend, Taylor Swift.
“She is one of the most talented people I have ever met. She is very strong in her field and always gives great advice,” she said. “I don’t know what else I can say I did for her other than being there as a friend.”
Gomez shared some words of wisdom that she passed on from the “Elizabeth Taylor” singer, 35, that still stick with her. “If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room.”
