Denise Richards’ estranged husband, Aaron Phypers, was reportedly arraigned in court on Friday.
According to Fox News, the actor was handcuffed inside a Los Angeles courtroom and taken into custody on suspicion of spousal abuse amid a tumultuous divorce from the “Wild Things” actress.
After escorting Fipers away, officers reportedly returned to the courtroom to retrieve his cellphone, and witnesses reported that Fipers got into a shouting and altercation with the sheriff while on the escalator.
Page Six has reached out to representatives for Phypers and Richards.
Mr Richards was previously granted a temporary restraining order in July and is now seeking to make the order permanent.
Earlier this month, the “Denise Richards and the Wild Things” star, 54, testified that Phypers had assaulted her on numerous occasions.
According to People magazine, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills personality gave testimony claiming that the incident left her with “at least three concussions” and left her eyes black after the alleged incident, which occurred in January 2022.
In another incident, Ms Richards claimed Ms Phypers was “squeezing[her]head so hard” that he “lifted[her]head up”. Ms Richards added: “It felt like he was crushing my skull.”
She also testified in May that her estranged husband “smacked[her]on the top of the head with the palm of his hand” as he repeatedly yelled for her to “give me back,” according to Us Weekly.
Phypers took the stand to refute Richards’ claims, insisting to her attorney during her testimony that “that’s right,” and that it’s no exaggeration to say the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” alum is “vulnerable.”
“She bruised her arm and got all kinds of bruises. She fell down while cooking and got a bruise,” he said. The suspect claimed he saw the reality star get injured “frequently” and did not believe she did it “intentionally.”
“I did not abuse my wife,” he said on the witness stand.
Phypers denied Richards’ abuse allegations and accused him of infidelity and abusing painkillers and alcohol.
In her ongoing divorce case, Phypers, 53, filed papers on Friday demanding half of her modeling income from OnlyFans, which ranges from $200,000 to $300,000 a month. He also claimed that he had been cut off from access to funds that appeared to be joint income.
Fipers wrote in the document that the money “is joint income that we have built and earned together, as I take the photographs and own the intellectual property rights.”
“I don’t think this qualifies as spousal support, but I do think it qualifies as a property right to half of our joint OnlyFans business income,” he added in a statement.
Mr. Phipers also claimed that he was “about to be evicted,” was “out of money and financially desperate (sic)” and was behind on utility and other bills.
The former couple married in 2018, but Fipers filed for divorce in July, citing “irreconcilable differences.”
