Kate McKinnon will be joining Season 3 of Percy Jackson as a recurring guest star.
She will play Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. According to the official character description, Aphrodite “can change her appearance depending on the viewer” and “needs to ensure that Percy Jackson (Walker Scovell) respects the power and importance of love before agreeing to assist him in his quest.”
McKinnon is best known for her work on “Saturday Night Live,” where she was a cast member from 2012 to 2022. She was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards during her tenure and won twice. Her other notable works include the films “Bombshell” (2019), “Yesterday” (2019), “The Spy Who Dumped Me” (2018), and the 2016 “Ghostbusters” reboot. Most recently, McKinnon played the role of quirky Barbie in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie (2023) and Carole Baskin in Peacock’s 2022 limited series Joe vs. Carol. She will next be seen in Hulu’s sci-fi film “In the Blink of an Eye,” directed by Andrew Stanton. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is based on Rick Riordan’s middle grade book series of the same name. Riordan created the television series with Jonathan E. Steinberg, who serves as showrunner along with Dan Schotz. Steinberg and Schotz are executive producers. Riordan and Rebecca Riordan. Craig Silverstein. Bert Salke. The series will debut on Disney+ in 2023, with season 2 premiering on December 10th. Season 3, based on the book “Curse of the Titans,” is currently in production in Vancouver.
