Heather Ray El Moussa’s son is still having his first experience!
On Tuesday, Oct. 14, the HGTV star, 38, shared a video on Instagram showing 2-year-old Tristan shopping in person at a grocery store for the first time. Heather, who shares her son with husband Tarek El Moussa, chronicled their experience browsing the store, listing some of her favorite items to purchase.
The video shows the toddler sitting in a shopping cart, looking around the store, pointing at what he wants and picking items off the shelves. “First shopping trip for Tristan and first since 2020 for me… 😂 Where are all my other Instacart girls?!” she wrote in the caption.

In addition to Tristan, Tarek is also the father of two children, son Brayden and daughter Taylor, with ex-wife Christina Haak. In 2010, he became a father for the first time when his daughter was born. Five years later, the couple’s family expanded with the birth of a son. Although the HGTV stars broke up in 2016 (and divorce was finalized in 2018), Tarek and Haak remained devoted co-parents to their children.
In September, the Selling Sunset star, who married Tarek in 2021 and gave birth to Tristan in January 2023, shared a photo of her blended family celebrating her 38th birthday.
In the Instagram snap, Heather, wearing a beige tank top and white cardigan, was seen seated in the center of a circular table, with Haak and her boyfriend Christopher Larocca on one side and Tristan, Tarek, Brayden and Haak’s son Hudson, 6, on the other side. Taylor was seen leaving her seat at the table and standing behind her stepmother, posing with her hand on her shoulder as her friends stood beside her.
“I felt so loved this birthday ✨ I spent the entire day surrounded by the people I love most 💕 My heart couldn’t be more full,” Heather captioned the sweet photo. “P.S. Tristan’s reaction to the ‘new addition’ at dinner was priceless 😂👀👀,” she joked, noting that her son was looking up at Taylor’s friend in the photo rather than smiling at the camera.
Blended families often get together to celebrate their children’s milestones. In August, Heather, Tarek, and Hark celebrated Brayden’s first day of school and Tristan’s first day of kindergarten. The family gathered to celebrate the Easter holiday in April, but Taylor was noticeably absent from some of the photos. Heather explained that “the whole crew” attended the Easter celebration, but her stepdaughter “didn’t want to be photographed.”
Their parents didn’t always get along, but they’ve since put their rocky past behind them and even co-starred on HGTV’s hit show “The Flip Off.” The real estate agent previously told PEOPLE in 2022 that the trio “definitely had their ups and downs,” but ultimately realized that their children were “the most important thing.”

“I think she realized how much I love my children and that they are number one to me,” Heather said. “So no matter what drama there is, the children are the most important thing to all of us.”
The proud stepmom celebrated her stepdaughter’s birthday by sharing a collection of photos of the teen over the years, including a recent heartfelt family snap with Tarek. In September, Heather shared a snap of herself with Tarek and Taylor posing together. Tarek and Heather wore black in the photo, standing next to the birthday girl who opted for a light blue dress and sneakers.
In the second photo, Taylor, wearing a bright pink dress, was seen hugging Heather, who was wearing a white dress, as the two sat together. This was followed by another hilarious family snap of Taylor cuddling up on the couch with Tristan. Heather captioned the post: “Happy 15th Birthday to my beautiful Taylor!!” “I can’t believe you’re 15! That’s crazy for me to say that. I love you so much.”
