Meghan Markle rubbed elbows with American Vogue’s new editor-in-chief Chloe Malle during a crowded trip to New York.
Fans predicted the Duchess of Sussex would be “on the cover soon” after a cozy photo of the pair chatting in a booth at Manhattan’s Whitby Hotel was circulated via Dumois.
The sit-in appears to have taken place on Friday, as the “Suits” alum, 44, wore the same striped top she wore to Project Healthy Minds’ World Mental Health Day festival.
The former actress completed her look with jeans, a slicked-back bun, and earrings.
A source told the Daily Mail: “Meghan 3.0. She’s on a mission and looking for a fresh start.”
Representatives for Markle and Malle did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Over the weekend, Reddit users pointed out allegations that Malle, 39, was “fangirling over Meghan at Paris Fashion Week.”
The journalist, who was chosen to replace Anna Wintour in September, posted a photo of the back of Ms Markle’s head in a “belated but wonderful” roundup on Instagram on Sunday.
One fan exclaimed, “I can’t wait to see how Chloe’s editing turns out.” “I think this is a good step!”
Wintour, in particular, attended the Balenciaga show that Markle attended for her first Fashion Week appearance on October 4, where the two warmly greeted each other and hugged.
Markle, who looked stunning in an all-white ensemble for the occasion, made headlines on Saturday when she revealed that Balenciaga designer Pierpaolo Piccioli had invited her to his show.
The Deal or No Deal alum has yet to interview Vogue, instead guest editing British Vogue’s September 2019 issue.
She and then-editor Edward Enninful reportedly fell out in 2022 over Markle’s desire for a “global cover” and her alleged list of demands.
“The Duchess and her team had high hopes… but Mr. Enninful was unable to meet,” a source told the Daily Mail in May.
The fiasco was said to have been “difficult” for Enninful, who was “furious” and the pair reportedly no longer spoke to each other.
Instead, Markle featured The Cut in New York Magazine’s September 2022 issue and promoted her podcast Archetype.
Since then, she started another “Confessions of a Female Founder” podcast, along with her Netflix show “With Love, Meghan,” which was dropped after one season.
To promote the project, the retired royal relaunched her Instagram account earlier this year, where she shares rare glimpses of her and Prince Harry’s children, 6-year-old Prince Archie and 4-year-old Princess Lilibet.
