Taylor Swift has revealed that Travis Kelce once mistook Hugh Grant’s wife for Greta Gerwig.
In an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday (October 8), the 14-time Grammy winner reflected on the hilarious row on her Ellas tour in which her fiancé thought the maverick actor’s wife was actually the director of Barbie.
In June 2024, Grant, 65, attended the second Elas tour date in London, where he met Kelce, 35, in the VIP tent.
Swift, 35, said the Kansas City Chiefs player also met Grant’s wife, Anna Eberstein, who he thought was the “Lady Bird” manager. He then congratulated Eberstein on his favorite Gerwig film, “Barbie.”
Kelsey even joked, “I’m just Ken,” while pointing at Swift, but didn’t know he was actually talking to Grant’s very confused wife until the end of the show.
After the tent party, Kelsey told Swift that she had a great time meeting all the celebrities, including Grant. But he didn’t mention Gerwig, which confused Swift, she told Seth Meyers. When she heard that Gerwig didn’t respond to the “I’m Ken” joke, she thought maybe Gerwig had heard the “I’m Ken” joke too many times.
Kelsey explained to Swift that Gerwig and Grant danced so well together throughout the night and “were just making inside jokes” that she came to believe they might make a movie together. “They feel like soulmates,” Swift recalled Kelce telling her.
“Tea is going to be crazy tonight, Travis,” Swift told him.
Meanwhile, Kelsey told Swift that she had a great time dancing with her family. Swift then told Kelce that she seemed to enjoy the joke because she had seen many videos of Kelce dancing with Gerwig. “Oh, that’s not Greta,” Kelce told her.
Swift realized what had happened. Kelce confused Eberstein with Gerwig.
“The good thing is that he recognized true love,” Myers said. “He saw a soulmate and knew you were his soulmate.”

Grant spoke of his gratitude to the “Oparite” singer, 34, on “X” after attending Swift’s second Elas tour performance in London in June 2024.
“Dear @taylorswift13, you put on a great show and you’re an amazing, very kind team,” he said at the time, before giving a shout-out to Kelce, calling him “a huge but amazing boyfriend.”
Grant also added the hashtag “#TequilaShots,” hinting that he had partaken in drinking during the concert.
“Thank you so much from my (older) boy in London, my wife and my excited 8 year old #halfgirlhalfbracelet,” the Love Actually star concluded.

The next day, Swift wrote back declaring herself to be Grant’s official “stan” before expressing her gratitude.
“As a longtime Hugh Grant Stan this tweet is very important to my culture,” she replied with an X.
The “Honey” performer released her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” on October 3.
