Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck recently attended the Kiss of the Spider Lady premiere in New York City. The appearance sparked rumors that the once-married couple could date again, but multiple sources have shut down the theory.
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck recently had a red carpet reunion in New York City, but the once-married couple won’t be rekindling their romance anytime soon.
“They are not back together, but they are in a great place and are communicating better and have a friendship,” multiple sources told Weekly. “It took them a lot of time to get to this place.”
On October 6, the pair attended the premiere of Kiss of the Spider Woman. The musical film stars Lopez. Affleck and Matt Damon are executive producers through their production company Artist Equity.
One insider noted that Affleck attended the premiere solely due to his involvement in the project. “There’s nothing going on between them,” the source said. “He went because he was a producer.”
Still, that didn’t stop either of them from singing each other’s praises at the premiere. On the carpet, Affleck praised Lopez’s performance as the titular spider woman. “In this role, you get to see all of her many gifts,” he told Extra. “She’s someone who grew up watching classic musicals, and (she) can obviously do modern dance and stuff… She really does it all in this movie: acting and singing and dancing… She’s great, but that’s not a surprise to anyone.”
Before the screening, Lopez thanked Affleck for his involvement in the film. “Thank you, Ben,” she said. “This film would not have been made without Ben and Artist Equity.”
