Cheryl Howard wrote and published novels inspired by a trip to the Middle East

In 2005, Cheryl’s debut novel was published by St. Martin’s Press, facing Gin. The story continues as two American sisters travel to India for business, but only one sister mysteriously disappears. The other sister is looking for her, connected to Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Sheryl found inspiration for her novel in a discussion with her friend and martial arts instructor Ali Najim from Pakistan.

She travels to the Middle East to do book research and writes on her website. “In October and November 1997, with the help of a retired CIA operative, I traveled to the Northwest Frontier on the Afghan border and began a three-and-a-half-week adventure with the company of two former military officers in the Pakistani army. Americans were officially forbidden.”

Cheryl Howard was inspired by his father’s spirit of adventure

Born in Glendale, California in December 1953, Cheryl was raised by his parents, Charles and Vivian, along with two sisters.

Cheryl Howard holds a degree in psychology and scriptwriting

The published author holds both a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in scriptwriting. She wrote on her website that Ron’s “passion for stories” brought them together.

“Ronnie doesn’t fully share my enthusiasm for the Middle East and Central Asia (I was a bit nervous when I first learned of my desire to travel there), but he has always supported the need to miss the story,” she wrote on her website.

“I didn’t start writing until I was 22, but English was by no means my strength,” she added. “But I truly love good threads. Especially after that, I know a little more about the world around me.”
