Tondero, Peru’s most well-known production company, is run by Miguel Valladares and has officially established a former post base in Madrid, following its fifth co-production in Spain.
Together with “family”, Tondero will lay the foundations for a new office in Madrid, promoting access to Spanish filming incentives and joint production treaties with other countries. Tondero España is currently developing two feature films and a series for streaming services.
Tondero’s move follows the lead of other Latin American companies, recently with Chilean films from the Chilean Clara film.
Tondero recently co-produced El Deseo of Pedro and Agustin Almodovar and Ramon y Ramon by Salvador del Solar. The romantic drama was released in Peru and Spain, following its world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival in 2024. There is also a series of developments with Eldeseo and Infinity Hill based on the hostage crisis that took place at the Japanese Embassy in Lima in 1996.
“A Family” brings together a strong team of producers. El de de de de Claire is led by Estella films led by Carlos Montero, creators of Elite, LaGrimas Films, Diego Bettancole (Elite, Lespira) and Felix Zzel (Ele Trono).
The project also has support from Spanish broadcaster RTVE, Movistar Plus+++, and funding from the national film agency ICAA and the Madrid region. Filmax handles distributions.
With the upcoming film set, this marks another step in Tondero’s strategy to build a strong creative connection in Spain, working with some of the country’s top producers.

“A Family” follows three interconnected stories from one family. The original child actor caught between fiction and reality, a prisoner on a temporary holiday, and an overwhelmed during the baptism of the child. Set in different eras, these stories explore identity bound by blood and life-changing decisions.
