Wizards of Waverly Place star David Deluise shares a heartfelt message to his “pretending daughter” Selena Gomez after her wedding to Benny Blanco.
In a post shared on Instagram, Deluise’s 53-year-old shared a photo of his former Disney Channel co-star Gomez, shared Blanco’s wedding and wrote candidly about the actress.
“I had been quitting social media for two months and had to go back to celebrate @selenagomez and @itsbennyblanco at their wedding. It was a perfect day and full of love and joy,” the actor wrote.
“My wife @jules_rules_berlin and I were honored to be present. We had so much fun dancing the night at our wedding, “pretending to be a daughter.” He joked, “I’m pretending to be my step-son,” referring to Jerry Russau and his daughter, Alex Russau.
“When I started working with Serena, she was only 14 years old. Now she’s a wife and I’ve started her new journey with a great guy on her side,” DeLuis continued. “And hopefully one day I will be a grandfather who will pretend.”
DeLuis also cried out to several other stars, including Taylor Swift and his other former co-stars Jennifer Stone and Maria Canal Barrera.
“It was great to dance with @jenniferstone and @maria_cb and her family!” he wrote along with a photo of his family.
“We also spent time at @taylorswift. I was first to meet Taylor when I was filming the wizard,” the actor shared. “We all went bowling. She was sweet, authentic, realistic. She was exactly like she is now. It hasn’t changed to all her successes.

Gomez, 33, and Blanco, 37, tied the knot in California on September 27th, with Delury’s wife Julia sharing photos with her husband on Instagram from their wedding weekend, writing, “Love is a word.” She then posted several videos on her Instagram story, detailing her “celebration of love” and her “surreal” experiences with her fiancé. That “highlight” was speaking to the previously confirmed Swift 35.
“Speech, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift gave speeches. It was great, mostly Taylor,” Julia said.
Julia explained that details of Gomez and Blanco’s wedding were kept “a long, pretty secret” after she and David were invited. In the end they were told the exact date and were able to choose two hotel options.
“We knew we would be picked up at a certain time at one of those hotels, and then we’ll go straight to the wedding,” she said.

“As soon as Serena walked in, she walked down the aisle by her granddad and I began to cry,” Julia said.
Other celebrities in attendance included Gomez’s only murder in the building’s co-stars Steve Martin and Martin Short, who shared a joint speech at the rehearsal dinner. The other former only murders of the wedding building star were Paul Rudd, Ashley Park and Kara Delevinne.
Edgar Ramirez and Zoe Saldanya, both of whom appeared in Emilia Perez, were also fiancées alongside Swift, Ed Sheeran, Paris Hilton, SZA, Camilla Cabello, Cala Delevinne, Eric Andre, Finny and Nina Dobrev.

Grammy Award winner Mark Ronson DJed at the reception. This also featured speeches from Swift, Sheeran and Gomez’s mom Mandy Teefay, Stepdad Brian, and Blanco’s parents, Andrew and Sandra Levin.
Sources close to Gomez and Blanco told people that the couple curated the perfect night for themselves and their guests to celebrate their marriage.
“There was a lot of love in the room,” the source said of the wedding. “…The ceremony moved guests to tears. They wrote their vows. It was interesting and sentimental.”
