Josh Duggar flashed “the most eerie smile” when his cousin Amy Duggar confronted him about abusing his sisters.
In May 2015, it was revealed that the “19 Children and Count” star inappropriately touched on five female victims in the early 2000s, including his then-sister (ages 1-4).
Josh, who was a preteen when forced attachment first began, admitted, but was never charged.
When the news came out, Amy confronted him and asked why he refused to hurt her in a similar way, according to an excerpt from her upcoming memoir, “The Holy Destroyer: Smashing Shiny Facades by Getting the Truth in a Voice.”
Amy, 39, told the outlet that Josh responded by saying he “knows her better” than trying to touch her.
“It was the most eerie smile,” she recalled. “At that moment I just saw him and I was like, ‘I don’t know you at all.’ ”
Amy was horrified and heartbroken as her cousin she knew and loved felt like a complete stranger.
“He was texting and laughing, we’d send each other memes, he called and we had double dates and everything, and I said, ‘I don’t know you at all’ and she lamented the situation as ‘very sad and horrifying.’
Amy says she “hadn’t got an answer” from Josh, but she’s not the kind of person who would “back down.” So, in the process of writing her book, she contacted his fifth victim.
“I want people to know that I just want to respect your story and I respect you,” Amy explained.
“I told her.
Amy believes her “the whole book will drop her chin.”
Josh, 37, shares seven children with his wife, Anna Dugar, but is currently in prison for 12.5 years in three years since he receives and owns child pornography.
When he first learned of his fate in May 2022, Amy told his Instagram followers he wanted to receive the maximum sentence of 20 years he was facing.
However, she was relieved that “another monster” was placed behind the bar, saying “the prisoner will take care of him.”
Amy told people he had a tiny amount of “great” that was small, small, very small, very tiny.
According to Amy, Josh’s misconduct has been “pushed aside” and “it’s not actually addressed.”
“(Hey, OK, we’re going to send you here and leave the house. They’ll talk to you there when you build a house.” And so on. That’s not real help,” she insisted.
When Josh first told Jim Bob, 60, about his misconduct, the patriarch allegedly disciplined him.
After his second confession, Jim Bob spoke to the church elders and agreed to put his son in a Christian counseling program. Michelle, 59, told people back then that Josh was simply with family friends.
After another entry, Jim Bob spoke to Joseph Hutchens, a family friend who was then an Arkansas trooper, (now behind the bar with child porn fees). Hutchens meets with Josh and gives him a “stricken story” but no official report has been submitted.
