Nicole Kidman has officially filed for divorce from Keith Urban after 19 years of marriage, Variety confirmed. News of the Oscar winner filing papers in Nashville arrives a day after Variety has confirmed that Kidman and the country music star are separated. The previous couple shares two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. He is 17 and 14 years old, respectively.
Urban and Kidman got married in Sydney, Australia in June 2006 after meeting a year ago at G’day USA Gala in Los Angeles, an event promoting Australia. They have become one of Hollywood’s most visible power couples for nearly 20 years. Urban will attend various Kidman film events (from premieres to awards ceremonies such as the Oscars and Emmys), while Kidman will attend Urban concerts and other musical events. The two walked together on the red carpet at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May 2025 and were spotted watching the Los Angeles Football Club play a match at the FIFA Club World Cup in Nashville in June.
In the first months of her marriage, Kidman notably staged urban interventions amid the struggle against alcohol abuse. Urban went into rehabilitation and ended up trusting Kidman as essential to his rehabilitation and drinking. When Kidman was awarded the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024, Urban spoke in his tribute speech how positively he had had on his life when they met.
“Four months after my marriage, I’ve been rehabilitating for three months,” Urban said. “We didn’t know what was going to happen to us… and if you want to see what love actually looks like, let it circumvent. Nick pushed through all the negative voices.
“She’s raw, but resilient. She’s a serious, full gooball. She also has a bit of a mantra, “Choose Love.” “She has the ability to love like someone I’ve never met before.”
Kidman and Urban celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary in June. Urban marked the opportunity by posting a black and white photo of the couple hugging them alongside “Happy Anniversary Baby” on Instagram.
