Penn Badgley is all hanging out.
The “Gossip Girl” alumni candidly recall the process of filming one of his “You” sex scenes.
Looking back at one of the scenes from Season 3, the actor writes that his character, Joe Goldberg, was involved in a “fantasy sequence,” in which he intended to dream of his wife (Victoria Pedretti) and secretly being a librarian (Tati Gabriel).
He also explains that the director chose to film the scene “on camera directly in front of my face.”
“What makes sense for me is, in fact, is that my character Joe is deep into coitus in a dissociative fantasy, so the director wants a close-up of my face,” the 38-year-old wrote.
However, the actor faced problems as there was no space for both the Pedretti and the 700-pound camera setup.
“Yeah, and I’m on the same nude thong I’ve worn all morning as we were finishing the scene,” he adds.
The scene then changes when he informs him that “we don’t look straight down at the barrel of the lens, rather than hitting the camera in his face.”
Still, Badgley is a pro, so he continued to play pro-like scenes by humping “off my ass.”
“I’m not at home, but I can imagine. There’s no one in front of me, but I can imagine that someone is. A while ago, I had nothing but resistance to my body to do what I need, but with one word remark – action – I’m completely faced with absurdity. I look at the camera.
It’s not the only one in the Netflix series. I’ll be honest about filming the show’s risk sex scenes.
In 2021, Gabriel told Page 6 exclusively that he “goes crazy” while filming his first intimate scene with the Easy A star.
“I was very nervous,” said the actress who starred in season three. “I said to the pen upstream, ‘Hey, I’ve never done this before.’ And he said, “It’s okay.” ”
“We had a great intimacy coordinator on the set, so we were able to walk everything and have a good idea (what to do),” she continued.
“It’s more like a dance that has got to feel the tension and get nasty or weird, like a choreographed dance.”
