The path to her son’s heart is to go through his stomach.
Jimmy Kimmel revealed that his mother, Joan Iacono, tried to comfort him with homemade food after the eponymous talk show was temporarily suspended from the air.
“My mother kept making (food) mercilessly,” he told guest Lisa Anne Walter on a Wednesday night episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”
“She said, ‘Can I bring some pasta et fagiori with me?” …She brought my face cookies with my face on the show last night,” added Kimmel, 57.
His remarks about his mom came after 62-year-old Walter brought to Kimmel a welcome gift consisting of homemade Maccheloni alla Pesares.
The “Abbott Elementary School” actress said dishes made with chopped turkey breasts, buttergruyere cheese, mushrooms, cream and wine are part of a “plan” to bring “what America loves most.”
“I thought you haven’t been working for a few days, you might need food. I want to help,” Walter joked as the audience and Kimmel laughed.
Kimmel’s late-night ABC show was suspended last week after discussing Charlie Kirk’s death in his monologue.
The late right-wing political activist was shot dead on September 10th while speaking at Utah Valley University. He was 31 years old.
“The Magazine gang is desperately trying to characterise the child who killed Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them, and they are doing everything they can to score political points from there,” Kimmel said at the time.
For his remarks, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” was pulled out of the air “indefinitely” by ABC.
Sinclair, a media company run as the largest ABC affiliate group, will maintain the talk show by requesting Kimmel issue an on-air apology to Kirk’s family and donate to Turning Point USA, a nonprofit for podcasters.
However, Kimmel refused.
A few days later, the Walt Disney Company announced that his show will air Tuesday night, with Kimmel reportedly returning for staff.
In Kimmel’s first monologue after the halt, he gets emotional and tells viewers that he “never intends to make (his) light” of Kirk’s murder.
Kimmel’s television show gained a total viewer on the first episode, becoming the most rated, regularly scheduled episode since March 2015.
