Michael Porter Jr. made it clear that he would not make all the bills in his relationship.
Brooklynnet, 27, appeared in the episode in honor of the Justin Labois Show on Tuesday, September 23, saying he chose to split the rental with his ex-girlfriend because he wanted to know if the woman he dates was “here for the right intentions.”
Laboy said, “Hold On. I know you’re not worth $200 million, and I was splitting the rent with your ex-girlfriend.”
In 2021, Porter signed a five-year, $179.3 million extension with the Denver Nuggets. The deal also included performance-based incentives that could increase the total to $207 million, Porter’s agent told ESPN. Net undertook the contract when it acquired him in June 2025 trade. His salary is expected to rise to $38.3 million for the 2025-26 season, with each ESPN to $40.8 million for the following season.

“It’s very difficult to have money to communicate a woman’s intentions,” Porter began to explain.
“I never bought a girl’s expensive gift before this last girl – and it was cool,” he said. “But I still wanted to know that she was with me for the right reasons. Every guy in this particular person’s past had money. So I didn’t want to feel like a girl was with me for what I had.”
Porter then recalled how the former couple got into the situation. Note that he does not live with anyone until he gets married. He says his ex-girlfriend was an apartment hunt and found the place she wanted, but that was twice her price range.
He explained that at the time she told her she wanted her to stay there, and that he would pay the difference for whatever amount she couldn’t pay.
Port added that when he proposed it, he said he would cover the rent for a year, even if their relationship ended. The couple broke up five or six months later, and now he is asking himself, “Would I continue to help her or am I cooking?”

Since the breakup, Porter said he had said, “I wanted bread.”
“I won’t blame her because she entered that apartment where she couldn’t afford it. I gave her my word,” he said.
But Laboy asked, “So why don’t you send half of her for the rest of the year?”
“Because she needs to do the right thing every month,” Porter replied. “I’m just saying, so if you’re paying for the rest of the months…and I’m watching her do wild, peers, that agreement will be hard to continue.
