Fangoria, a horror film magazine and multimedia entertainment company, has signed with Gersh for its representatives to continue its expansion into film, television production and international media distribution.
Originally founded in 1979 as a print publication covering horror films, Fangoria has evolved into a media brand that spans editing, films, series, podcasting, products and brand partnerships. Additionally, media companies are holding their annual Fangoria Chainsaw Awards. It celebrates the excellence of horror films, television and games in general, with over 1 million fans voted in 20 categories.
“Fangoria has always been the decisive home of the horror community, and our studio philosophy has said that best. Everyone screams in the same language,” said Abhi Goel, co-owner of Fangoria.
“This collaboration with Gersh represents the next thrilling chapter in its mission. It welcomes businesses and partners to expand their fears globally. We are excited to partner with Gersh’s world-class team to provide the support and space that creators, brands and businesses need to bring unique voices to the global stage.”
Fangoria plans to accelerate its content development initiatives and IP libraries while challenging film packaging and funding, global fan practices and immersive experiences. The partnership with Gersh will support Fangoria’s global scale and plans to introduce horror storytelling to a diverse new audience across the national and international markets.
“Horror is a universal language that connects us all through shared emotions and the power of terrifying stories,” said Tara Ansley, co-owner of Fangoria. “I believe this genre is for everyone who crosses cultural boundaries to unite audiences around the world. What excites me the most is the opportunity to highlight an incredible international horror voice worthy of wider recognition.
“Fangoria has spent decades supporting genre creators around the world, and this partnership will help us further our mission. We can connect our audiences with authentic stories from every corner of the world,” Ansley said.
Fangoria Studios recently announced a collaboration with Japanese horror manga author and artist Junji Ito, producing three stories from his “Smashed” Story Collection series. The studio is also developing an original horror film with Anna Chazelle, based on the Greek Gorgon sister, Medusa.
Fangoria’s global reach ranges to over 7 million horror fans each month. The company has previously partnered with leading players in the industry such as Paramount Pictures, Blumhouse, A24 and Neon to create high-profile fan celebrations and publish famous compilations.
