Seth Myers weighs after Jimmy Kimmel Live! It was pulled out of the air.
On Wednesday, September 17th, an ABC spokesman confirmed to people that Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show would be pulled indefinitely. The decision came from comments made by the host in a September 15th monologue about Charlie Kirk, a right-wing character who was shot dead at a speaking event at Utah Valley University on September 10th.
In Kimmel’s monologue, he spoke to President Donald Trump’s “American Great Again” supporters.
However, Kimmel previously expressed sadness towards Kirk’s family on social media.
“Can I agree that, instead of having an angry finger point, one day, shooting another person is a horrifying monster?” he wrote on September 10th.
Myers dedicated his late-night “looking” segment to Trump’s relationship with media and freedom of speech on Thursday, September 18th.
“His administration pursues a free speech crackdown, and it’s completely irrelevant. Before we start here, I just want to say I always admired and admired Trump.” “I always believed he was a visionary, innovator, a great president, and even better golfer. And if you ever saw me say anything negative about him, it’s just AI.”
After that, Myers got serious and told the audience: “Like I wake up every night this show, calling Jimmy Kimmel my friend is a privilege and an honor is an honor. I wake up every day.
The comedian called it “a big moment in our democracy,” adding, “We all have to stand up to the principles of free expression, and there is a reason why freedom of speech is the first revision.”

In a statement, Nexstar Media told people “owned and partner television stations affiliated with ABC TV Network will prevail on Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
The decision was explained as a result of the company “strongly opposed to Kimmel’s recent comments regarding the murder of Charlie Kirk.”
Kimmel has not commented on the news yet.
Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar’s broadcasting division, is called Kimmel’s comment.
“To continue to give Kimmel a broadcasting platform in the communities we serve is not merely in the public interest at this time. We have made the difficult decision to preempt his show to prioritize cooler heads in order to reopen a respectful and constructive dialogue,” Alford’s statement continued.

According to a press release, Nexstar recently announced plans to win rival broadcaster Tegna for $6.2 billion for $6.2 billion, further consolidating local television landscapes and placing Nexstar in 80% of American television-owned households. The acquisition will require final approval from the Federal Communications Commission, managed by Trump.

FCC Chair Brendan Kerr immediately praised Nexstar for putting pressure on ABC to remove Kimmel on Wednesday, writing that “it’s important to push back Disney programming that broadcasters have determined are not reaching the value of their community.”
