Oscar-winning production designer Hannah Beachler will be honored at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival for his creative impact at the Variety Production Design Awards.
Beachler made history when she became the first African American to bring home a trophy in the Production Design category for her work on “Black Panther.” She is Ryan Coogler’s go-to, and the two are working on “Fruitsvale Station,” “Crevets,” “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” and “Sinner.”

Beachler will win the award at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival, which will be held from October 25th to November 1st.
The Scad Savannah Film Festival, unveiled by the Savannah College of Art and Design, is packed with film creativity from award-winning experts and emerging student filmmakers. Over 63,000 people attend the 8-day festival every year. A stop that stands out on the path to the Academy Awards, the annual festival begins with a Gala Opening Night Screening. The rest of the week will feature scheduled competitive films, premiere screenings, workshops, lectures and panels. These events will take place in Scad’s historic theatre and industry-leading studio spaces throughout the historic city of Savannah, Georgia.
As previously announced, Jon M. Chu will receive the Vanguard Director Award and Jennifer Lopez will receive the Virtuoso Award.
Variety’s Chief Awards Editor Clayton Davis is also returning to host the “Pixels and Pencils” panel.
