ABC aired Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show “indefinitely,” Page 6 can be seen.
“Jimmy Kimmel Live” will be indefinitely ahead of time,” an outlet spokesman said Wednesday.
The decision comes after TV station conglomerate Nexter Media threatened to pre-elevate the program’s broadcast following the comedian’s comments on Charlie Kirk’s death, according to Variety.
Nexstar sent a message to ABC on Wednesday saying it was “strongly opposed to Kimmel’s recent comments on the murder of Charlie Kirk, replacing the show with other programming in the market related to ABC.”
Before the show was pulled, FCC Commissioner Brendan Kerr threatened to launch an official investigation into Kimmel and his show about his recent remarks that Kirk’s murderer is a supporter of Maga, the “great American again” political movement that supports President Trump.
“When I see what Jimmy Kimmel has happened, it seems like it’s part of the most sickest act possible,” Kerr pointed out in his Wednesday appearance on the “Benny Show” podcast on TMZ by Wednesday.
“There’s a measure here at the FCC, so there are some ways to be a little careful about it, as they will ultimately be called some judges of these claims. But I don’t think this is an isolated case.”
“They have a license granted by us at the FCC, so they have an obligation to operate in the public interest,” he said.
In response to the news, President Trump wrote through the true social society of England. There he was on a state visit with his wife, Melania Trump.
“We congratulate ABC for having the courage to do what they ultimately had to do,” he added.
“Kimmel has zero talent and if that’s possible, he has a worse rating than Colbert. That leaves two total losers on fake news NBC, Jimmy and Seth. Their ratings are also scary.
Kimmel’s representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Page 6, but the comedian reportedly was “live” about the decision.
Kirk passed away on September 10th after being fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University. Three days later, authorities announced that he had arrested the suspected murderer.
On Monday night’s episode of his eponymous show, Kimmel claimed that “Maga Gang” had used the death of a conservative critic as a move to score political points.
“We hit a new low over the weekend with the Magga gang trying to characterise this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them,” Kimmel said.
It is worth noting that Kimmel also responded to the news of Kirk’s death via his social media accounts, expressing sadness to Kirk’s family.
“Can I agree that shooting another person one day, instead of an angry finger pointing, is a horrifying monster?” Kimmel wrote at the time.
He continued: “On behalf of my family, we send love to Kirks and all the children, parents and innocent people who have been victims of meaningless gun violence.”
Carr later thanked Nexstar for “doing the right thing” by taking action against Kimmel in a message shared on social media.
“Local broadcasters have an obligation to serve the public interest. This may be an unprecedented decision, but it is important that they push back Disney programming, which determines that broadcasters are not meeting community values.”
