Dolly Parton appeared on Dollywood on Wednesday due to health issues.
The 79-year-old singer is scheduled to be at her theme park in Pigaon Forge, Tennessee, and announced a new attraction, but in a video message to fans she explained that she is recovering from a kidney stone.
“I know, I’m here, you’re there and wondering why,” she said in the video. It was shared in X by journalist Marcus Leshock.
“It was a bit of a problem. I had a kidney stone.”
“It turns out he’s infected and the doctor said, ‘I don’t have to travel this moment, so it’s going to take a few days to get better,” she continued. “So he suggested I wouldn’t go to Dollywood today.”
Parton reassured the fans that she was coming back soon.
“Don’t worry about me, I’m fine,” she said. “I can’t do it today.”
Parton’s representative did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Page 6.
Kidney stones are hard objects made of minerals and salts that form inside the kidneys, and passing them can be painful, according to Mayo Clinic. However, rapid treatment usually helps prevent permanent damage.
Parton’s health issues come after nearly 60 years of husband Carl Dean passed away in March. He was 82 years old.
The 11th Grammy Award winner opened up about his secret health fight in an interview with the Independent in May and said he was pleased that he is not suffering anymore.
“But that has not yet made up for the loss and loneliness of it,” she added at the time.
In July, Parton said he took a break from the music after Dean’s death, and admitted on Khloe Kardashian’s “Chloe of the Wonderland” podcast, “I Can’t Do It.”
“I can’t do that now. I’ve got so many other things, so I can’t afford the luxury of being emotional now,” she continued.
Parton said she would eventually return to stage, but she said, “I’m just putting it all on hold.”
