Teddy Mellencamp, who is battling stage 4 cancer, recently collapsed with a severe case of Covid-19.
She detailed a “brutal” match with the virus in Tuesday’s episode of Diamond in the Rough podcast.
“I got a Covid. I’m fine now, but I’m beginning to feel extreme extreme depression,” the daughter of musician John Mellencamp told Jane, confirming she feels “hopeless.”
“I called the psychiatrist. My dad flew through his assistant and was with me. But I never felt that way,” she admitted.
Teddi, 44, said her psychiatrist “changed (her) medications” and reminded her that “no one really knows what anyone is actually going through.”
But even so, the original bravery told Jane, 54, “I cried out every day last week.”
What’s more, she was “numb,” which means she “doesn’t reach out to anyone.” She also experienced “brain mist.”
Jane claimed she was on Teddy’s side and then shared a bit about her own mental health struggle.
The singer was caught in depression after filing for divorce from her lawyer Tom Girardi after being denied in November 2020. He began to be sentenced to seven years in prison for fraud in July, and Jane was caught up in an ongoing lawsuit.
“I was lying in the bed a lot and had some really hindering thoughts,” she said.
“I wanted to commit suicide for a very long time, but I thought about it a lot and then I didn’t,” Jane revealed. “Despair is horrifying.”
She also reminded her friends that she has “experienced a lot.”
“I think the gravity of what you’ve experienced is hitting you now,” she emphasized. Teddi agreed, saying, “I went because of this chaotic lifestyle, non-stop and being in the hospital.”
Noting that the accountability coach wasn’t too late, Jane believes that the “severity and gravity” of her situation “has been hit by a few months later.”
Teddi explained that her doctors assured her that “it’s normal to feel this way,” but that doesn’t “not scared” the emotions.
Jane agrees, and it’s difficult to “feel so low” and doesn’t know if he should “stop it.”
The diva doesn’t know exactly what Teddy is going through, but she assures her peers that she knows “what it feels like to feel that way.”
“You’re just stuck like this. And I can’t drive yet. I felt like I was stuck inside this house. Then the Covid was added.
The mother of three said the emotions began to make her wonder if she “made a mistake,” but Jane insisted that she didn’t.
Teddy didn’t elaborate on what she meant, but she filed for divorce from Edwin Aroyub (who she shares her children) in November 2024, two months ago, two months ago, when she learned that her skin cancer had spread to her brain. It has since spread to her lungs.
