Sony has released the first trailer for Paul Rudd and Jack Black’s “Anaconda.”
Tom Gorman, who directed “The Unbearable Weight of Huge Talent” and wrote “Cops Beverly Hills: Axel F,” co-written and directed the new “Anaconda” film. Despite sharing the title with the 1997 thriller, “Anaconda” is not a remake of the original film starring Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Ice Cube, John Voight, Eric Stoltz and Jonathan Hyde.
The new film centers around a group of friends facing a midlife crisis and sets off to remake their favorite films from young people. Black plays Doug, a wedding videographer, and Rudd is Glyph, a background actor. But when a friend heads into the jungle, things quickly become reality. The cast includes Thandiwe Newton, Steve Zahn, Daniela Melchior and others.
Last year, Rudd and Black confirmed the project and announced their December 25th release date in a promotional video clip uploaded to YouTube. “We’re making a movie!” cried Black at the beginning of the video. “Paul Rudd and Jack Black Star from “Anaconda.” According to Rudd, audiences experience a lot of emotions while watching the film.
“You want to be scared,” he said in the video. “You want to laugh. You want to celebrate with your friends. Maybe you’re alone, sad, there’s no one there, but you just don’t want to forget that. It’s coming out on Christmas 2025.”
Brad Fuller and Andrew Form have co-writers Kevin Etten producing “Anaconda” under a fully formed entertainment production banner.
