‘Yellowjackets’ ends with season 4 on Showtime on Paramount+ Premium

Variety has learned that “Yellow Jackets” will end with the upcoming 4th season.

The Showtime/Paramount+ Premium series, produced by Lionsgate TV, premiered in 2021, with the third season airing from February to April 2025. The fourth season will premiere in 2026, with the exact release date to be revealed at a later date. The season 4 writers room is now open.

Series creators and co-showrunners Ashley Lyle and Burt Nickerson said, “After three incredible seasons and much thought, we are thrilled to announce that this fourth and final season will bring the Yellowjackets’ story to a twisty conclusion.” “We always knew there would come a time when the story would come to an end, and we believe that our job, our responsibility, is to listen. Telling this emotional, wild and deeply human story has meant so much to us. It’s been an incredible experience and a true honor, and I’m so grateful to the incredible cast, crew, and writers who bravely journeyed with us to bring this story to life, and most of all, to the fans who stuck with us all the way.” Moments, mysteries, meals — the Hive is nothing without you. I can’t wait to share the final chapter with you. I hope you all find it delicious. Good luck, A and B. ”

Lyle and Nickerson are in talks to continue their relationship with Paramount after the series ends, according to a person familiar with the situation.

This is the latest Showtime series to announce its end in the wake of the Paramount-Skydance merger. Just recently, it was reported that The Chi would end after eight seasons, while Variety exclusively reported that the prequel series, Dexter: Original Sin, has been cancelled. So there are only two originals left on Showtime right now: “The Agency,” which is gearing up for a second season, and “Dexter: Resurrection,” which recently announced its renewal for a second season.

Season 3 of “Yellowjackets” starred Melanie Lynskey, Christina Ricci, Tawny Cypress, Lauren Ambrose, Sophie Nellis, Jasmine Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Courtney Eaton, Liv Hewson, Steven Kruger, Warren Cole, Kevin Alves, Sarah Desjardins, and Simone Kessel. Elijah Wood had a recurring role, and Hilary Swank, Joel McHale, and Ashley Sutton guest starred.

Lyle, Nickerson, and fellow showrunner Jonathan Risco all serve as executive producers on the series. Creative Engine’s Drew Commins also serves as executive producer along with Jeff W. Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson, Ameni Loza and Brad Van Aragon. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television for Showtime and distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

“Yellowjackets” has proven popular with both critics and audiences. According to Paramount, season 3 was the most-watched season to date, and the finale was the most-watched episode in series history. The show has earned a total of 10 Emmy nominations, including back-to-back nominations for Best Drama and Best Drama Actress (for Lynskey).
