There are spoilers below.
Season 2 of Gen V came to an explosive end on October 22nd, with Marie Moreau and friends setting out for the Starlight Resistance. With an ending like this, it’s no wonder fans are wondering if there will be a season 3 of the popular Prime Video series.
Gen V originally began as a spin-off of Eric Kripke’s popular series The Boys, based on the comic book by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The show is known for its explicit violence, wicked and complex characters, and wild depictions of superhero sex. Generation V is not much different. After all, this young super is attending college. However, The Boys will end with its fifth and final season in 2026. The show’s first part, Vought Rising, began production this year. Another spin-off, The Boys: Mexico, is also in development.
Does this leave room for more stories on Godolkin University? Here’s what we know so far about a potential third season of Gen V.
Will there be a season 3 of Gen V?
It is not yet confirmed whether Gen V will have a third season. In an interview with The Wrap, Kripke emphasized that many of these decisions will depend on streaming numbers. It’s clear that Amazon supports the entire world of The Boys, but they need Gen V to tune in while the show is on the air.
“We’re lucky in that we always have a lot of support,” he said. “We still have to hit the ratings, which is a very classic, old-school way of doing television, but we need the audience to be involved to justify the ratings more.”
He added that the team has “plans for Generation V Season 3” and is “excited about it.”
Another issue is that there has been a change in leadership since the beginning of Generation V, with Peter Friedlander, formerly of Netflix, becoming Amazon’s head of global TV. A major change at the top can mean a change in direction. But he could be a fan.
What will Season 3 of Gen V be about?
In season 2, the main characters are dealing with the death of Andre, played by actor Chance Perdomo in season 1. Perdomo passed away in March 2024 due to a motorcycle accident, and his death was essentially built into the show. Andre dies off-screen while trying to free his friends from Elmira, a super-rehabilitation center that serves as a prison and torture facility as scientists conduct experiments on up-and-coming superheroes.
Much of the season is spent with Marie, Emma, and Jordan dealing with the fallout of their mission at Elmira, as well as clashing with Kate and Sam, who appear to be working with Godolkin’s new dean, Cypher, to take over the school. But Cypher’s machinations soon turn everything upside down. The Dean seems determined to make Marie understand the depth of her powers. He forces Marie to fight Jordan in front of the entire school, which certainly awakens something within her and reveals her superpower to control people. As if this wasn’t enough, he imprisons the group again and Marie ends up discovering the body of her sister Annabeth with her throat slit.
Marie digs deeper than ever and brings her sister back from the dead. She then decides to defeat Cypher by curing Cypher’s sick man, Dr. Thomas Godolkin, who is badly burned and sick. The students believe he is being held captive. She did so, hoping that he would set everything right. But it turns out Cypher wasn’t in the lead at all. Godolkin controlled Cypher the same way he controlled Jordan in the ring.
In the final episode, the friends must stop Godolkin from killing the weakest supers on campus. They eventually succeed, and Marie pops her head out like a grape, but not before he nearly takes over her body for good. The group flees the university before they can be blamed for the chaos and joins up with Starlight and A-Train as a new rebel force.
Season 3 will likely depict the aftermath of the students on the run. Other issues set at the end of season 2 are related to romantic relationships, with Jordan wondering if they can be more than friends with Marie. It also relates to the tension between Emma and Sam, and the newly introduced Greg (though he remains on campus).
There will also likely be a time jump to coincide with what happens in the final season of The Boys, which some fans believe will end with Homelander’s death. But if Marie is truly more powerful than Homelander, it would be pretty cool to see them face off. However, that may have to happen in the series finale of The Boys. This means that some parts of the story will not appear on screen in Generation V.
In an interview with The Wrap, Kripke said, “As long as there’s an interesting story to tell and a new dimension to uncover, I’m in. Without spoiling anything, I think the world beyond Season 5 of ‘The Boys’ is a very fascinating world. There’s a lot to explore. It’s much more of the Wild West in terms of giving nothing away and anything goes. And I think it’s great to have Gen V kids in the middle.” of. “
Who will star in Season 3 of Gen V?
Season 2 stars Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, Lize Broadway as Emma, Maddie Phillips as Kate, London Thor and Derek Lu as Jordan Lee, and Asa German as Sam Riordan, returning from season 1. We will wait for Prime Video to find out who will officially return when the 5th generation is updated.
