“Wicked: For Good,” set to stream on Peacock on March 20, is flying brooms and bubble chairs into homes.
Includes bonus content such as a sing-along version, a full commentary by director Jon M. Chu, and deleted scenes.
Universal Pictures’ 2024 Wicked sequel sees Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba (aka the Wicked Witch of the West) and Ariana Grande’s Glinda return to Oz on the brink of chaos. Coinciding with the events of L. Frank Baum’s original novel “The Wizard of Oz” and the 1939 Victor Fleming film, “Wicked: For Good” completes the story, alternating with iconic stories from Elphaba’s empathetic perspective.
In addition to starring Erivo and Grande, “Wicked: For Good” also stars Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard of Oz, Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible, Ethan Slater as Me, Marissa Bode as Nesarose, Bowen Yang as Fanny, and Bronwyn James as Shen Sheng, all returning from the previous film. Chu will also return as director for the sequel.
Both “Wicked” movies are based on the 1995 novel “Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West” by Gregory Maguire and the Tony Award-winning musical version by Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman that premiered on Broadway in 2003. Marc Platt and David Stone produced the play as well as both films.
Wicked: For Good was released in theaters on November 21st and grossed $223 million worldwide during its opening weekend. It broke the record for the highest opening weekend box office revenue for a Broadway film adaptation of its predecessor in 2024. The sequel grossed $525 million worldwide and earned Grande a Best Supporting Actress nomination.
