The Landman cast was not walking along the red carpet of the Emmys tonight. Emmy voters snub the Paramount+ series created by Taylor Sheridan. The next season of the show is scheduled to drop in November 2025.
Although Landman was one of the most popular series of late 2024 and has earned a higher audience rating than any of the series nominated for outstanding drama at Tonight’s Emmy Awards, such impressive audience figures didn’t appear to shake up Emmy voters. The Paramount+ series, created by Yellowstone showrunner Taylor Sheridan, received no one nomination ahead of tonight’s awards ceremony. That means the cast was forced to skip the red carpet.
Despite notable performances from actors such as Billy Bob Thornton, John Hamm, Demi Moore, and Ali Larter, Landman is one of several Sheridan projects that Emmy chose to ignore. None of the creator’s six eligible dramas cracked any of the major nomination categories this year. Season 2 of 1923 won a nod with production design and costumes (and special OPS: Tulsa King for Lioness and the best stunts), but all projects including Kingstown, Landman and Yellowstone itself were completely locked out.
Still, it doesn’t seem to have a gradual Paramount+ phased as fans are already eagerly anticipating the next season release date of Landman on November 16th. In an interview with Elle in January 2025, Larter shared that she hopes the audience will see her character, Angela, along with Thornton’s character, Tommy. “We’ll bring up more of the places we’re in bed together, the scenes we’re really talking about. I mean, I think it’s really interesting. As the (next) season unfolds, Angela will once again be somewhere else in her life. I think her priorities have changed.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Thornton also teased that Season 2 would be more “slow burns.”
“Now, the audience knows all the characters, so (Sheridan) really could jump more into the relationship,” the actor explained. “Last season we had to explain what this business was and who the people were. This season he was able to really focus on the first few episodes of family dynamics and business dynamics.
