Prince Harry fully supports Meghan Markle’s recent move to distance herself professionally.
“He always thinks she’s doing the right thing,” a source told Us Weekly in an article published Wednesday, while another said they’re glad Markle has found “something she’s passionate about.”
“It’s her success in front of him and he believes in the saying ‘happy wife, happy life’ and he’s glad he doesn’t have to be involved in that world,” a second source said of Markle’s penchant for the Hollywood life.
A second source claimed that the different career aspirations between Mr Markle and Prince Harry would be a positive outcome for the Duke of Sussex.
“As a couple, it’s healthy to have separate spheres, identities and passion projects,” a source told the outlet.
Another source shared that the “negative attention” Markle receives in the media is having an impact on Prince Harry’s work.
“They’re going to be pretty divided (professionally) going forward. That’s what they’ve been doing all year,” the source said.
Public relations expert Jane Owen said Ms Markle was building her “personal brand again”.
“It’s a transition to individuality,” Owen pointed out.
Owen believes Harry is happy with the new arrangement as it allows him to focus on personal projects.
“He seems happier doing quiet, cause-based work,” Owen said. “They’re still a team, but they’re playing to their strengths now.”
PR guru Mark Borkowski agreed: The Duchess of Sussex is “no longer one half of the royal duo.”
“She’s re-emerging as a solo brand: global, ambitious and strategically remote,” Borkowski said. “Whereas the royal chapter was about access to power, this one is about taking power back.”
Borkowski believes the former “Suits” actress, 44, is trading in her “duty-bound duchess palette” for a “cooler West Coast gloss.”
“The Vogue salons, the haute couture cameos, the soft-focus humanitarianism — all these things indicate that she’s positioning herself in the rarefied Gwyneth (Paltrow) and (Victoria) Beckham layer of conscious luxury,” Borkowski said.
A second source explained how Markle is making a “very conscious move” into the world of strategic branding.
“Meghan is opening herself up to the world of branding and marketing, sending a signal to the world that ‘I’m open to business and ready to make money in the lifestyle field,'” the source said. “[She]wants to emulate Gwyneth. She doesn’t necessarily need the TV show and the criticism that comes with it.”
Brand and culture guru Nick Ehde claimed Markle was in “pure celebrity mode”.
“[Meghan]is establishing a presence that could lead to partnerships and deals… She’s someone who (could) be courted by brands,” Ehde said. “She’s… establishing herself in a crowd that she wants to be a part of.”
Markle is huddled in the spotlight while Harry steps into the shadows, but they will still share the same vision.
Royal commentator Amanda Matta said: “It’s clear that[Meghan’s career]is moving forward in the public eye, but they both know how to share the spotlight as they achieve common goals.”
Markle caused a stir in the fashion world earlier this month when she sat front row at her first Paris Fashion Week show.
Last year, she launched the Goop-inspired lifestyle brand As Ever (formerly known as American Riviera Orchard), and this year she starred in two seasons of the Netflix cooking show “With Love, Meghan.”
Meanwhile, Harry, 41, is focused on the Invictus Games, which benefit injured and sick service members and veterans.
