Joseph and Kendra Duggar were recently charged with endangering a minor and false imprisonment after police found several suspicious keys in their family home.
“Apparently there were two rooms where the lock on the doorknob was on the outside instead of on the inside,” a source told Us Weekly Monday. “They arrested her and took her children away for that purpose. They said this was evidence that she was unlawfully restraining the children.”
After Joseph was arrested on child molestation charges last Wednesday, law enforcement conducted a home investigation because he and Kendra have four minor children.
As a result of the police investigation, Kendra was arrested two days later, but officials insisted that “Kendra’s arrest and Joseph’s arrest have no connection, although one event led to another.”
Page Six has reached out to a representative for the couple for comment.
Warrants have been issued for his arrest on four counts of second-degree endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of second-degree false imprisonment, according to a news release from the Tontitown Police Department.
Kendra, 27, was taken to the Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she posted $1,470 bail and was released hours after her arrest.
The mother of four looked stoic in her mug shot. After her release, she was photographed outside the prison looking visibly distressed.
Meanwhile, Joseph, 31, is being held in a “secure” area of the facility in Arkansas and is being “constantly monitored.” He is scheduled to be extradited to a Florida prison this week on unrelated charges.
The “19 Kids and Counting” alum was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl.
The Bay County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that he was charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a victim under 12 years of age and lewd and lascivious acts with a person over 18 years of age.
The victim, now 14, told police during a forensic interview that she was suspected of being involved in multiple incidents with Joseph during a family vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida, in 2020.
She claimed that Joseph repeatedly asked her to sit on his lap and touched her genitals.
The day before Joseph was arrested, the victim’s father told Joseph about the incident, and Joseph confessed to his father and Tontitown police officers, the sheriff’s office said.
Since his arrest, several members of Joseph’s family have spoken out, with his brother Josh defending him and his cousin Amy standing by the victim.
