Jeremy Allen White was one of the elite stars in attendance at the Golden Globe Awards tonight. For the occasion, White celebrated his nominations in both film and television, wearing a black tuxedo with a white calla lily boutonniere.
The actor was nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) for “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere” and was nominated for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series Musical or Comedy for “The Bear.”
White appeared to arrive alone at the ceremony, despite his romance with The Bear co-star Molly Gordon. Fans have been following the pair closely over the past year, but with Gordon not individually nominated tonight and not scheduled to attend, the night was squarely focused on White’s work and accomplishments. The decision is in line with the norm during awards season, where attendees often focus on nominees and presenters.
White’s nomination reflects a significant year for the actor, who has expanded into major film roles while building on the critical acclaim he earned for The Bear. He has been particularly praised for his emotional intensity as Carmy Berzat on the hit FX series. “This show changed my life,” White said while accepting the 2024 Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. “It instilled in me the belief that change is possible, that change is possible if you reach out, and that you are truly never alone.”
That emotional depth carried over into White’s performance as Bruce Springsteen in Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere. However, it was not without some anxiety. In September, the actor told Entertainment Tonight that taking on the role was “the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my career” because he felt a responsibility to properly honor Springsteen. “I know how much Bruce is loved and rightly so,” he said.
White’s Golden Globe win also came in the midst of her relationship with Gordon, which has largely unfolded out of the spotlight. The two first met while working together on The Bear, when Gordon joined the cast in Season 2 to play Claire, a childhood connection from Carmy’s past. Both actors spoke about their on-screen chemistry and the creative connection they felt during filming.
In a 2023 interview with Glamor magazine, Gordon recalled feeling an immediate sense of trust and comfort when he first worked with White, describing him as “a generous, flexible person.” White publicly praised Gordon’s performance that year. In an interview with Variety magazine, he noted his co-stars’ ability to play characters that are “vulnerable, funny, and charming.”
Romance speculation between the two continued into 2024, and in September of the same year, their relationship was confirmed off-screen when they were photographed kissing in Los Angeles. Since then, White and Gordon have gone on outings in New York City and in Gordon’s film Oh, Hi! They have been spotted together on various occasions, including the screening of “”.
Gordon spoke about managing the public’s reaction to their relationship. In an interview with Vanity Fair last June, she reflected on how quickly fans’ opinions form online, and said the scrutiny can be “sometimes annoying, fascinating and interesting,” especially given how protective viewers are of White’s character on The Bear.
