A video of Duchess Meghan celebrating the Los Angeles Dodgers’ World Series win on Saturday night has been slammed as “fake” and “frustrating”.
In a black-and-white Instagram Story, Markle, dressed all in black, squealed with joy and ran to her husband, Prince Harry, who was sitting with his feet up in a recliner. After bending down to give him a hug and a kiss, she excitedly continued jumping up and down with her best friend, Kelly McKee Zadifen.
“Oh my god,” the mother-of-two squealed, and Harry chuckled at her antics.
However, some social media users were not amused and criticized her response.
“This makes me angry. It’s fake AF,” said one commenter about X. “Of course this wasn’t staged, because the camera was in the perfect position to capture everyone. Oh my god! Look at how happy we are and how crazy we are about each other. Look, we have friends, and it’s not my bottle of wine.”
Another posted: “This is peak level fear.” “Imagine former royal Prince Harry reduced to an unpaid ‘extra’ in his wife’s deluded fantasy world.”
Another user accused Markle of being dishonest, writing: “Looks so fake.”
Meanwhile, Zajifen explained why Harry looked so uninterested in the video, revealing that while he and Markle watched Game 4 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium, Harry was actually rooting for the Toronto Blue Jays, despite wearing a Dodgers hat.
“Sorry, your team didn’t win, but mine didn’t. @dodgers I LOVE YOU!!!!,” Zadifen wrote on his Instagram Story.
Markle and Prince Harry received a less-than-warm welcome at Dodger Stadium, receiving loud boos when they appeared on the jumbotron.
Some fans were furious that they had better seats at the game than the sports legends who were in attendance. Markle, 44, and Harry, 41, were seated in the row ahead of Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson and former Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax.
“Having them sit in front of Sandy Koufax doesn’t seem appropriate for the occasion. Also, as a member of the Canadian Royal Family, shouldn’t Prince Harry wear a Blue Jays cap?” 1 comment on X read.
