Chappell Roan chose to skip the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards and spend the night. She will perform in New York City later this month.
Roan was nominated for Song of the Summer this year. This is her second nomination in the category. In 2024, she won the Best New Artist award, but also took nominations in the MTV Push Performance and Trend Video category. She also made a big splash on stage and performed her hit song, “Good Luck, Babe!” While dressed in a dramatic ode to Joan of Ark.
In fact, her other two appearances from the evening were all about silver, chainmail, and medieval details. She arrived from the Seafoam Green Velvet Cloak with a thin maxi dress from the Y/Project and a literal sword.

Accepting her award, Lorne said: “I dedicate it to all drug artists who inspire me. I dedicate it to pop-fueled queer and trance people, and to those who love and dislike my songs.”
She continued. “And I would like to thank the fans, the people who listen to me when I share my joy and fear, and to the people who listen to me, and thank you for listening.
