Years before Ashley Tisdale’s “toxic” mom group drama, her longtime friendship with Vanessa Hudgens reportedly cooled over a boy.
“Vanessa and Ashley are already estranged, just adults who are different from the young girls they were when they became friends,” a source close to the “High School Musical” alum told The Sun.
“However, their friendship officially ended when Austin (Butler) broke up with Vanessa,” they claimed.
“Ashley and Austin are also close friends, and Vanessa felt that Ashley was much more supportive of Austin than she was.”
Hudgens reportedly “didn’t feel supported during the breakup and felt that Ashley was focusing on herself, her family, and her own problems while Vanessa was having a hard time.”
The source said: “In the end, they decided it was healthier for them to no longer have a close friendship and there was no question that Ashley would be invited to the wedding.”
“By that time, they were done,” the source continued.
Hudgens and Butler broke up in 2020. The “Sucker Punch” star then married Cole Tucker in December 2023 without Tisdale in attendance, and has since had two children with the former MLB player.
However, Hudgens served as Tisdale’s bridesmaid in her 2014 wedding to Christopher French. Tisdale and French are also parents to two children.
The outlet’s sources claimed that the Disney Channel alum, 40, is “trying to be seen as a girl’s girl, but doesn’t stand for it when her closest friends need it.”
Representatives for Tisdale and Hudgens did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
In a 2024 interview on Watch What Happens Live, Tisdale confessed that he hadn’t seen Hudgens in a “long time.”
“Obviously, she’s working, I’m working,” she said at the time.
Tisdale has been under fire since publishing an essay in The Cut magazine earlier this month, in which she labeled the former mom group “toxic”, saying she was excluded from hangouts and felt “not cool enough.”
She claimed that she texted the group to let them know she was leaving because they were “too high school” for her.
Although she didn’t reveal her name, she is said to be linked to a star-studded group of moms that includes big stars like Mandy Moore, Hilary Duff and Meghan Trainor.
Since then, several trainers, other mom group members, and their husbands have spoken out, with Duff’s husband Matthew Koma slamming Tisdale for being “self-centered” and “tone-deaf.”
A source claimed to Page Six earlier this week that Koma “gave her what she wanted.”
The source further called Tisdale “intolerable” and said the rift between the group and Tisdale “has been going on for a long time.”
