“The View” criticized ICE and the government on Monday, January 26, after ICU nurse Alex Preti was shot and killed by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Saturday.
“They killed a man. He’s standing there, he’s got his cell phone, he’s got a bottle of water, and they shoot him 10 times. Oh my god,” Whoopi Goldberg said during the episode, cutting herself off and becoming visibly emotional. “If you’re not investigating a straight murder, I don’t know what you’re investigating. A straight murder. This is the second murder, the second murder of an American citizen.”
She continued, “If you haven’t seen it, it’s on purpose. Because you haven’t. We can’t sit by and watch this.”
So Mr. Goldberg called the Secretary of Homeland Security and the Border Patrol commander.
“Mr. Kristi Noem, this cannot be justified. Mr. Bovino, this cannot be justified,” she said. “You can’t justify one or the other. We all see it and we see you for what you are. You all have blood on your hands.”
Preti, a retired Army nurse who was killed Saturday, died weeks after her 37-year-old mother, Renee Nicole Goode, was shot and killed by ICE agents as she drove away from a protest.
Ana Navarro said Preti was “waving the camera around” before he was shot. “This government is doing things that I’m not used to saying about the U.S. government,” she said. “It lies to the public, it lies to the public. So to them, cameras are just as dangerous as guns. What they don’t want is for people to see the truth.”
Sarah Haines also commented on the murders on Monday’s episode, slamming both ICE and the current administration.
“It’s the ICE officers themselves that seem to be bringing about the violence. We know we have good ICE officers. The problem is that they’re now using single-shooter imagery to recruit people and give the impression that they’re here to exterminate the pests, and also tell them they’re immune,” Haynes said. “They’re not even being properly investigated. The regime is speaking out about this and setting the tone. That’s what we’re seeing now. That’s why people are being killed completely unjustly.”
