Whoopi Goldberg cheerfully confessed that she bar-hops as a way to fulfill her sexual desires.
On Wednesday’s episode of “The View,” Goldberg said, “One woman wrote an article for Cosmopolitan in which she admitted that she fantasized about being single, even though she was in a very happy long-term relationship.”
“She writes that she sometimes misses the days of casual hanging out and bar hopping,” Goldberg continued, and the audience laughed.
The “Ghost” actress then asked her co-host for a reaction, to which Joy Behar responded, “Do you miss those days?”
“I’m single,” Goldberg joked, adding, “Yeah, I jump and hang off bars! And when I have to, I do hit-and-runs.”
She said, “I am not married to anyone, so I am not responsible.” She then asked guest co-host Sarah Eisen if she was married, and she admitted that she was.
“Okay, so you four are responsible,” Goldberg said, pointing to Behar, Eisen, Sarah Haines and Ana Navarro. “So, my question is, do you ever miss your single life?”
Haynes quipped that while he misses being single, he misses bar-hopping. She misses “the binge where you can sit and eat ice cream and watch whatever you want with no one else watching.”
“I love being the center of my own world,” Ms. Haynes joked, while Ms. Navalu cheerfully confessed that “life is good” when husband Al Cardenas is not around.
This isn’t the first time the “Sister Act” star has declared that she prefers the single life.
“I’m basically a selfish person, and I have wonderful children and a son-in-law, three grandchildren and a great-grandchild, so I realized that I don’t have time for a lot of other people in my life,” she said during an appearance on “The Don Lemon Show” in May 2024.
“Hit and run is great. I don’t care,” she revealed. “But we can’t spend the night together.” When Lemon asked if a relationship with her was “still going to happen,” Goldberg replied, “Yeah, yeah.”
Regarding the stigma of not wanting a traditional committed relationship, Goldberg said people need to give themselves “permission” to have those feelings.
“When you say hit-and-run is where you want to be and you don’t want to get married, you have a series of words built up in your head about who you are,” she explained.
“I didn’t realize that I understood it,” the TV personality continued. “I was surprised by the fact that I liked hit-and-runs, even though I didn’t really want to. And my mom said, ‘Well, maybe we should just party from now on and not get married anymore.'”
Mr. Goldberg, 70, told Mr. Lemon that he could not stand the “give and take” of marriage. “It takes a lot,” the “The Color Purple” star said. “When I see you, I want to see you, and then you leave.”
The actress was married three times to Alvin Martin from 1973 to 1979, with whom she had a daughter, Alexandra. David Klassen from 1986 to 1988. and Lyle Trachtenberg in 1994-1995.
